We had a beautiful Ceremony on the waters of Hanalei Bay early this morning ( November 8 th. ) All of us in a Hawaiian canoe with Glenn and his close friend Steve, a world class ocean paddler. Went out to spot just out in deep water, beyound where Kelly loved to swim, and with the beauty of this picturesque & breathtaking place: released her ashes (and our sadness) to the soft wind & waves. Each of us placing a flower Lei on the water, plus one to represent all her beloved friends and family ... and a single pure white orchid from the tree outside my home ... was very touching and appropriate that the lei's hugged the canoe before sweeping out to the deeper seas. Steve (who has participated in many such ceremonies here in Hanalei Bay) said he rarely has seen the ashes & lei's being taken straight out to sea like they did, usually the currents and waves carry all toward the beach … Kelly showing her Free-Spirited self all the way ! Have video on Krissy's iPhone and will soon put it in the computer and edit to share. A few tears ... mainly jana* .. when I read a poem I had written and read to her on my last visit .. and even more laughter, as we knew Kelly would want. It helped that we used the wine bottles from the eve before, to convey the ashes ... an other element we knew Kelly would enjoy and get a laugh over.
